The Senate wanted to make sure that the concerned government agencies prioritized the safety of the Filipinos in Israel after a current war between Israel Defense Forces and Hamas from Palestine.

Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri said the quick action of the DFA and the DMW is necessary to help the Filipinos living in Israel, adding that the government can use the Assistance Nationals Fund to help.

For Senator Sherwin Gatchalian, the DFA, DMW, and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) need to step in as Filipinos need to be safely sheltered there.

He said that it is important for everyone to cooperate to provide assistance to the Filipinos living in Israel.

Senator Raffy Tulfo, the chairman of the Senate Committee on Migrant Workers, said his office is also on guard and will continue to communicate with the leadership of OWWA regarding the condition of the people affected by the war.

On Sunday, OWWA Administrator Arnell Ignacio told DZRH that there are more than 24,000 OFWs in Israel, and 2,000 of them live in the Gaza Strip, which is the center of the conflict.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has ordered all government agencies to work together to assist the Filipinos who are facing difficulties due to the war in Israel.
