Senator Risa Hontiveros announced that a Senate hearing will be held to investigate the charges against religious leader Apollo Quiboloy, where he and his co-accused will be invited to appear.
"Itatakda namin hangga't maaga ang pagdinig sa kanya kasi mananagot siya. Apollo Quiboloy cannot outrun the law, napatunayan ‘yan kasi siya’y nasa kamay na ng gobyerno ngayon at haharap na sa Senado and he will not further delay justice," Hontiveros, the Chairperson of Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, said during an exclusive interview with DZRH's Damdaming Bayan on Tuesday,
According to Hontiveros, they will schedule the hearing as soon as possible. Quiboloy, along with the four other accused who allegedly facilitated Quiboloy's exploitation of innocent women, will be summoned to attend.
The senator mentioned that justice is within reach for the victim survivors and expressed gratitude for their bravery in speaking the truth about their experiences.
"We also commend our law enforcement agencies for their tireless efforts and dedication. Ano pa man ‘yung mga naging taktika ni Quiboloy noon," said Hontiveros.
She said that the Senate investigation will continue until the system of abuse against the most vulnerable in society is put to an end.
Furthermore, the Senate is coordinating and consulting with those who have previously appeared before to determine if they are willing to testify again.
"May kausap pa kaming iba pang victim survivors ni Quiboloy na maaaring lumabas sa susunod na hearing," Hontiveros said in closing.
The self-proclaimed 'appointed Son of God' is currently facing charges for multiple counts of sexual abuse and qualified human trafficking.
Quiboloy fell into the hands of the authorities on September 8 and is currently detained at the PNP Detention Facility in Camp Crame.
