The Office of Senator Robin Padilla and the Senate Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA) have launched an investigation into a female staff member suspected of smoking marijuana inside the Senate premises.

According to the report by RH Raymund Dadpaas, the incident reportedly involved a Senate employee who was confronted by OSAA personnel after the smell of marijuana smoke was detected coming from one of the building’s comfort rooms.

Senate Sergeant-at-Arms Chief, retired General Mao Aplasca, confirmed that an inquiry is underway following reports of the incident.

The office said they are still conducting an investigation and will submit the results to Senate President Francis ‘Chiz’ Escudero as soon as they are available.

Padilla’s chief of staff, Atty. Rudolph Philip Jurado, also confirmed that the senator has ordered a probe into the report.

Jurado said he went to the OSAA office to verify if Padilla’s staff was indeed the subject of the allegations.

As of writing, both Padilla’s office and the OSAA are still gathering facts to determine the veracity of the report.

No formal charges have been filed pending the outcome of the investigation.
