The Senate of the Philippines will resume its scheduled hearings and plenary sessions on Tuesday, September 3, after suspending operations on Monday due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Enteng.
In an advisory, Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr. announced that Senate President Francis "Chiz" G. Escudero has directed the resumption of work at the Senate on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
The advisory also stated that secretariat officers and employees whose services are essential for the conduct of the hearings and sessions are required to report to work.
"The heads of the following offices: OSAA, Legislation, LBRMO, STSRO, MGSB, EDP-MIS, PRIB, Medical and Dental Bureau, and SMU are directed to ensure the presence of personnel to assist in tomorrow’s committee hearings and plenary session. Those required to report for work shall be entitled to compensatory time off," Bantug added.
Meawnhile, all other Secretariat employees are not required to report for work. Senate Proper employees may be required to report at the discretion of their respective principals.
As of 5 a.m., Enteng's eye was located over the coastal waters of Paoay, Ilocos Norte. The storm is moving northwestward at 25 km/h, with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 125 km/h.
By 2 p.m., Enteng is expected to be positioned 110 km west-northwest of Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals have been raised in major parts of Luzon.
