Senate probe on airport traffic mess set on Jan. 12

The Senate committee on public services will start the investigation of the New Year's day airport traffic mess on January 12, its chairperson Senator Grace Poe announced on Wednesday.
In a statement, Poe said the panel would conduct a hybrid hearing at 1:30 pm at the Senate session hall and via Cisco Webex.
According to the Senator, the agenda are as follows:
- The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Air Traffic system glitch incident
- Senate Bill No. 1003 - "An Act Strengthening the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines, Amending for the Purpose Republic Act No. 9497, Otherwise known as the Civil Aviation Authority Act of 2008"
- Senate Bill No. 1121 - "An Act Creating a Philippine Transportation Safety Board, Prescribing its powers and functions, and appropriating funds Thereof"
On Sunday at 9:55 am, the Philippine Air Traffic Management Center (ATMC) halted all flights to and from Manila after experiencing a technical glitch in the ATM system due to a power outage.
At least 361 international and domestic flights were either delayed, canceled, or diverted to other regional airports, affecting 65,000 passengers.
