Senate Minority Bloc finalized with Sen. Cayetano as leader

Senator Alan Peter Cayetano will serve as the chamber’s new Minority Leader, Senator Jinggoy Estrada confirmed on Tuesday, September 9.
This happened as Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III took over the Senate presidency from Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero following a leadership reshuffle on Monday evening.
According to Estrada, the so-called “Duterte Senators” form a nine-member Minority bloc which consists:
- Senator Alan Peter Cayetano (Senate Minority Leader)
- Senator Rodante Marcoleta (Deputy Minority Leader)
- Senator Joel Villanueva (Deputy Minority Leader)
- Senator Chiz Escudero
- Senator Imee Marcos
- Senator Jinggoy Estrada
- Senator Robin Padilla
- Senator Bato Dela Rosa
Estrada said they accept the changes in committee chairmanships in accordance with the wishes of the new Senate majority.

He added that he is already used to being part of the Minority, as this was where he started back in 2004.
Meanwhile, the Senate’s new Majority bloc members are composed of:

- Senator Miguel Zubiri (Senate Majority Leader)
- Senator Risa Hontiveros (Deputy Majority Leader)
