On Tuesday, the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality ordered the issuance of a subpoena for JP Samson, an alleged business partner and associate of the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo.
As the resource persons were being presented, Committee Chair Senator Risa Hontiveros inquired about the status of the committee's invitation to JP Samson.
The committee secretary reported that JP Samson had imposed a 'strict' directive prohibiting the acceptance of any letters at his residence. This instruction was communicated via text message to the residence's security.
“Wala ako sa bahay, chief. Wala ring magrereceive doon.” (I am not at home, chief. No one will receive," the text message read.
With evident frustration, Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada called for a subpoena against Samson, a motion that was seconded by Senator Sherwin Gatchalian.
“There is a motion to subpoena JP Samson duly seconded and the chair instructs the commsec to issue the subpoena,” Hontiveros said.
In a Senate hearing on September 5, Beach Resort Emon Pulo owner Raymond Ronquillo testified that Guo and 20 companions visited the resort in March 2023.
Samson was also reported as an alleged co-incorporator of Guo at Westcars, a company involved in the trading of second-hand cars and car accessories.
