The Senate announced on Monday that it is extending its work suspension until January 23 in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases among employees.
"Upon instruction of Senate President Vicente C. Sotto III and in view of the rising number of employees who have recently tested positive for COVID-19, please be advised that work suspension will be extended for the period January 18-23, 2022," an advisory from the Senate read.
"This is to give way to the thorough sanitation and disinfection of the Senate building and premises and to curb the further spread of the virus," it added.
Work will resume on Monday, January 24, it said.
According to the advisory, committee hearings, technical working group meetings, and other meetings that have already been scheduled will be conducted virtually.
It also reminded employees to "make themselves available" to their immediate supervisors through various means while they are working from home.
It also reiterated that non-essential trips are discouraged, while observance of health protocols is urged to ensure safety inside and outside the residence and workplace.
