The Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, under the leadership of Senator Risa Hontiveros, has requested the appearance of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and his associates from the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) to attend a public hearing.
In a letter sent to Judge Elma Mendoza Rafallo-Lingan of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Pasig and Judge Noel L. Parel of the Quezon City RTC, the committee formally invited Quiboloy and his associates to attend the public hearing scheduled for October 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Session Hall, Senate of the Philippines, Pasay City.
"In view hereof and by virtue of the standing Arrest Order issued by the Senate to APOLLO C. QUIBOLOY, the Committee respectfully requests your Honor to allow Mr. Quiboloy to appear before the Committee on the above-stated date and time of the hearing," the committee stated.
The details of the upcoming hearing include a privilege speech delivered by Senator Hontiveros regarding reported cases against Quiboloy on December 11, 2023, as well as Senate Resolution No. 884, which aims to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations against the KOJC leader.
Quiboloy is currently detained at the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame after surrendering on September 8.
He faces serious allegations, including human trafficking and sexual abuse related to former members of his religious organization.
