Due to her evasiveness and "blatant" lying, the Senate panel has cited dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo in contempt once again.
Senator Risa Hontiveros initially sought to confirm if Alice Guo was Guo Hua Ping. Guo responded by saying, "I am Alice Guo," which stirred the emotions of the senators.
"I move to cite Guo Hua Ping, also known as Alice Guo, in contempt of the Senate for testifying falsely and evasively before this committee," Senator Risa Hontiveros, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations, and Gender Equality, said during the hearing.
"You will remain in the custody of the Senate until the conclusion of this committee's inquiry or until you finally recognize the authority of this body and grant even a semblance of respect for the laws of this country," she added.
Hontiveros also mentioned the alleged threats received by Guo, as she was unable to divulge any details about the matter.
"Isa na 'yang sa death threat na 'yan. Pero higit pa doon 'yung question ng identity dahil proven na ng NBI at proven na ng isa pang ahensya na Alice Guo [at] Guo Hua Ping, iisang tao lang kayo. At 'yun ang patuloy na pinasisinungalingan mo sa komiteng ito,"said Hontiveros.
At one point, Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III asked Guo what she was invoking.
"Sen, may pending cases na po kasi sa akin sa court po. Ang understanding ko po, lahat ng sasabihin ko po dito, incriminating my own self po," Guo said.
Pimentel asked Guo to specify the cases filed against her that serve as the basis for her invocation, emphasizing that there needs to be particularity.
Guo initially answered that the case was related to citizenship, but quickly retracted and clarified that it was actually a case with the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
