The Senate adjourned its plenary session on Wednesday without discussing the articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte.

Senate President Francis Escudero called for the adjournment until June 2, 2025, following a motion by Senator Joel Villanueva.

During the brief moments between the motion and its approval, no objections were raised.

After the session, Escudero did not speak with the media and took an alternate exit. However, he is expected to appear as a guest at the Kapihan sa Senado on Thursday morning.

Senate Secretary Attorney Renato Bantug Jr. later clarified that the articles of impeachment had not been read in the Senate's last session because they required further staff work. He mentioned that the process was completed just minutes after the session was adjourned.

A formal handover of the impeachment documents took place between Bantug and House of Representatives Secretary General Reginald Velasco.

The impeachment complaint provides for seven Articles of Impeachment, namely:

  1. Conspiracy to Assassinate President Marcos, First Lady, and Speaker Romualdez
  2. Malversation of P612.5 Million in Confidential Funds
  3. Bribery and Corruption in the DepEd
  4. Unexplained Wealth and Failure to Disclose Assets
  5. Involvement in Extrajudicial Killings (Davao Death Squad)
  6. Destabilization, Insurrection, and Public Disorder
  7. The totality of the Vice President's Conduct
