Sen. Ronald Dela Rosa suspects that a fellow colleague in the Senate might have snitched that nine senators want to reinstate the confidential funds requested by Vice President Sara Duterte.
The Vice President requested for a total of Php 650 million worth of confidential funds: Php 500 million for her office, and Php 150 million for the Department of Education, which she also heads.
A news media platform identified the nine senators as Dela Rosa, Sen. Robin Padilla, Sen. Christopher Go, Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr., Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Sen. Lito Lapid, Sen. Francis Tolentino, and Sen. Cynthia Villar.
Dela Rosa wants to identify the source of the online platform since the person leaked what happened in an executive session of the Senate.
"Sa personal na paningin ko, I don't think na may staff na ganoon katapang na magbunyag ng ganoon mga information sa labas. So most likely, one of us (senators)," Dela Rosa said on Wednesday, November 8, during DZRH's Dos Por Dos.
"Imbestigahan rin yung staff kasi baka sila rin ang nag-leak," he added.
Dela Rosa believes that the Senate Committee on Ethics can obligate the platform or reporter to divulge the souce of the leak since the information involves national security.
"We are talking about national budget, that includes confidential funds. Sa confidential funds, national security ang at stake diyan," Dela Rosa insisted.
Dela Rosa shared that, if a senator did leak the information, the lawmaker could face expulsion from the Senate for violating the rules of the Upper House of Congress.
