Senator Ronald Dela Rosa came into the defense of Vice President Sara Duterte following allegations linking her to Oplan Tokhang.

Retired police Arturo Lascañas, who claim to be a former member of the so-called Davao Death Squad, said that Duterte, during her term as mayor of Davao City, created Oplan Tokhang.

Oplan Tokhang, an operation in which cops knock at the residences of suspected drug personalities and ask them to stop their illegal activities, became infamous due to numerous cases of drug suspects getting killed after allegedly instigating a firefight against law enforcement units.

The practice started in Davao City when Dela Rosa served as head of the local police, and reached a nationwide scale after his appointment as chief of the Philippine National Police.

Dela Rosa dared Lascañas to prove his accusations against the Vice President, and the senator even promised to cut off his head if the former cop can back up his statements.

"Magpapaputol ako ng leeg agad kung ma-prove niya iyan na si Sara ang nasa likuran niyan. Putulan ninyo ako ng leeg kung kasama si Sara diyan," Dela Rosa told reporters.

The Senator also implied that Lascañas received payment in order to implicate the Vice President.

"Ano ba iyan depende sa sinong nagbabayad? Sinong nagpapasabi ng kanyang statement," Dela Rosa said.

Lascañas submitted an affidavit to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, which seeks to conduct an investigation on the alleged crimes against humanity committed during the anti-illegal drug campaign of the previous administration under fomrer President Rodrigo Duterte, the father of the Vice President.
