Senator Nancy Binay filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the mayoral post at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Barangay Valenzuela, Makati City, today, October 1.
Accompanying Binay in filing her candidacy is actor-turned-politician and former Makati Representative Monsour del Rosario, who is eyeing the vice mayoralty post and will be her running mate.

Their tandem will run under the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA), the party of former Vice President Jejomar Binay.
Binay was also joined by her brother, former Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, during her COC filing.
In a media interview, the senator became emotional when asked about her sister, incumbent Makati Mayor Abby Binay, expressing her sadness over the fact that they have not yet spoken.
“Pamilya pa rin kami and mas mangingibabaw ‘yung pagiging pamilya namin,” said Binay.
“Sa akin, hindi ko kalaban ang kapatid ko. Walang Abby Binay sa balota. So hindi kami magkaaway,” she added.

Binay is likely to face her brother-in-law, Makati City Representative Luis Campos, whom Abby has stated is her sole preference to take over her position.
Meanwhile, Junjun Binay urged Makati Mayor Abby Binay's camp to respect their father’s endorsement of Senator Nancy Binay for the mayoral race in the city.

He further stated that he and Senator Nancy Binay would support and help their sister, Makati Mayor Abby Binay, in her run for the Senate.
