Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Vice Chairman Sen. Erwin Tulfo will serve as the OIC Chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, according to Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III.

"We made the vice chairman [Sen. Erwin Tulfo] the acting chairman," Sotto told media on Wednesday.

"So I called him and he accepted the post, so he will be acting chairman until the complete meeting of the majority ulit," he added.

The appointment came after the resignation of Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson as the chairman of the said committee.

Sotto said they are not discounting any of the five names that were mentioned to lead the committee. These include Senators JV Ejercito, Risa Hontiveros, Pia Cayetano, Raffy Tulfo, and Kiko Pangilinan.

"We’re still thinking. And some of them, I think, want to appeal to Senator Ping Lacson," said Sotto.

In a press conference earlier this week, Sotto said Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo "Ping" Lacson was frustrated after sensing that several senators were dissatisfied with his leadership of the Blue Ribbon Committee’s ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities in the Department of Public Works and Highways' (DPWH) flood control projects.

"Senator Lacson is frustrated. He is not stressed. Sanay sa stress ‘yun eh. Pero ang nakikita niya, frustrated because maghe-hearing siya, may umaangal bakit naghe-hearing. ‘Pag hindi siya naghe-hearing, may umaangal bakit hindi naghe-hearing. Ano ba talaga?" said Sotto.
