The local government unit in Maco, Davao de Oro, has stopped the search and retrieval operations in the Masara landslide that happened on February 6, according to the assessment of the Incident Management Team.
Maco Mayor Arthur Carlos Voltaire Rimando issued Executive Order No. 17 series of 2024 halting the operations at ground zero as they have found no cadaver since Sunday.
According to the IMT, the search and retrieval operation left a total of 93 recovered dead bodies, while nine people are still missing as of February 22.
On February 14, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office transitioned to search and retrieval operations.
Earlier, Rimando mentioned that the rescuers had a hard time conducting the operation as they dealt with unstable ground at the site, forcing them to temporarily pause.
Meanwhile, a mass burial was given to the unidentified victims of the landslide incident.
