The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization - Regional Center for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO Innotech) will hold a youth summit from June 27 to June 28.
SEAMEO Innotech Center hopes to bring together at least 150 participants from the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) member states in the two-day summit at their regional office along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City.
"We're having a youth summit kasi we were very concerned, of course, and rightfully, about teachers but we have to be concerned also about the learners," SEAMEO Innotech Center Director Leonor Briones told DZRH on Saturday, June 3.
"How effective are we and how do we draw them into the loyalty, development of the consciousness of them being Filipinos," she added.
Briones explained that most teachers benefit from the studies created by the SEAMEO Innotech Center, particularly on the use of technology for education.
"Hundreds of teachers have been trained sa mga advances in technology and science trained sa mga advances in technology and science dito sa SEAMEO Innotech," the former Education secretary said.
"Ang focus talaga namin is yung technology, the use of technology for education kasi ang overall environment is on education," she stressed.
SEAMEO Innotech now seeks to bring together youth leaders, and various organizations in the summit for their collective views, and actions in transforming education.
