The highly anticipated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Peace and Climate Techno-ResiliArt Summit Festival will take place at the University of Makati on March 4–5, 2025.
This unique event, organized by the Earthsavers Dreams National International Theatre Institute (ITI) Center Inc. in collaboration with the University of Makati-Center for Culture and the Arts, promises to bring together key stakeholders from education, culture, and policy sectors.
According to the I Love DepEd website, this summit will focus on fostering climate action and sustainability through the transformative power of the arts, providing a platform for these sectors to collaborate in addressing pressing global challenges.
"The Summit Festival serves as a vital platform for education stakeholders, policymakers, and cultural leaders to work together in promoting sustainable and inclusive climate solutions. It will actively involve leading artist-teachers and communicators who use the transformative power of the arts to serve the public," the press release from I Love DepEd stated.
Among the festival’s key objectives is to bridge the communication gap in climate science through performing, visual, and literary arts. By integrating creative expression into climate discussions, the event aims to raise public awareness, inspire action, and encourage collective efforts toward sustainability. Moreover, the incorporation of arts into climate dialogue promises to offer fresh perspectives and engage diverse audiences in a meaningful way.
This festival is aligned with the Congressional Resolution commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations (UN), along with other national initiatives focused on climate change and disaster risk reduction. It is also part of a broader campaign leading up to COP 30 in Belem, Brazil, where the Philippines intends to showcase culture-based climate action on the global stage.
Meanwhile, teachers and students from regional Department of Education (DepEd) offices will be selected as delegates to attend the summit.
Participation will be voluntary, and efforts will be made to ensure that the event does not interfere with instructional time, in compliance with DepEd guidelines.
