After turning the stage upside down and showcasing Pinoy talent to fellow Asian artists at the Asia Artist Award (AAA) 2023 held at the Philippine Arena on December 14, P-pop kings SB19 couldn’t believe that they were able to take home not just one but two awards.
SB19 members Josh, Pablo, Stell, Ken, and Justin were part of the AAA Hot Trend awardees alongside Korean artists Lee Junho, Ahn Hyo Seop, NewJeans, and Lim Young Woong.
Apart from the AAA Hot Trend award, the group also clinched the AAA Best Artist/Singer Category award alongside AKMU, ITZY, THE BOYZ, LE SSERAFIM, and IVE.
In their acceptance speech, Justin mentioned that the awards were unexpected and acknowledged all the artists who attended the event.
“We really did not expect the first award. And having another award is really surprising and overwhelming,” he said.
“We have two awards and we were able to perform earlier, so we’re very thankful to everyone, especially AAA, for [giving] an opportunity for everyone to show their talents,” the group’s youngest member continued.
Stell also left some inspiring words during their acceptance speech, saying that they were only dreaming of releasing songs, and now they are receiving awards.
“Noon po pangarap lang po namin ang makapag-release ng kanta. Pero ngayon, nasa harap niyo na po kami at tumatanggap ng award,” he said.
SB19 was among the first acts to perform on the AAA stage with a medley of their hit songs “Gento,” “Bazinga,” “Crimzone,” and “Mananangal.”
Loud cheers filled the Philippine Arena as the group also performed “Gento” with K-pop group &TEAM.
