The Filipino boy band SB19 member Ken or Felip made his appearance on Easy Rock Plugged-In as part of his Radio tour to promote his new single ‘Rocksta' released on Jan 19.
In an interview with DJ Nick of 96.3 Easy Rock, Felip shared the difference of his new single to the other tracks he released.
"Yung Rocksta kasi, pag pinakinggan mo, maiimagine mo agad dang dang dang [imitating rock instrumental]. Pero it's different, kasi 'yung Rocksta kasi, hindi siya literal na rockster, it's all about a feeling," he shared.
Being known as Ken of SB19, he explained the reason behind using real name as his way of detaching from his group's image.
"Actually, 'yung Ken po kasi ay nickname ko po siya. Then, 'yung Felip, real name ko siya, Felip Jhon. Napag-decidan kong Felip 'yung gamitin ko para 'di pa rin ako ma-view as SB19 Ken. Kasi solo endevour naman po siya," Felip added.
The musician called his solo career a 'big wall' he had to tear down which gave him motivation to be a better person and an artist.
His interest in music started in church where he sang and played instruments.
"Growing up, pinapanood ko lang 'yung mga pinsan ko, mga tito ko na tumutugtog ganyan. So, as a kid parang natural kasi sa bata na kung ano 'yung nakikita niya sa paligid niya, ginagaya niya," the artist shared.
In the interview, it was also revealed that he finished his studies in architecture but was not planning to pursue the profession as of now.
"Walang pinipiling edad 'yung pagiging architect. Gaya ng ng sabi ko may mga matatanda na famous architects. So, it can wait I think," Felip explained.
When asked about his way of taking a break from music he said, "Actually, naglalaro ako ng mobile game and siguro most of the time nagbabasa ako ng manga or nanonood ako ng anime because I'm a big big anime fan."
Aside from being a musician, he also established a clothing brand hoping that this also makes people confident.
"Lahat po kasi ng ginagawa ko, it talks about myself. Kumabaga, pinaparamdam ko sa kanila kung ano 'yung nararamdaman ko. Same as kung ano 'yung meron sa brand ko," he said.
