After the soaring <a href="https://www.dzrh.com.ph/post/red-onions-hitting-p600kilo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">price hike on onions</a>, another increase might be felt as manufacturers of sardines, meatloaf, corned beef, coffee, and soap have sent a notice of price adjustment to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
According to the agency, the request is still under study to make sure that the essential goods are reasonably priced for consumers.
DTI last issued a suggested retail price (SRP) for some items in August last year.
In the inspection of DTI Secretary Alfredo Pascual and Senator Mark Villar, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Trade, Commerce and Entrepreneurship in supermarkets in Makati City on Friday, items were still following the SRP and some were priced lower.
