The camp of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte debunked a circulating image on social media that contained a fake quote from the official.
The fake quote claimed that as incoming secretary of education, Duterte would ask Congress to expand the basic education program to K14+ and make the Reserve Officers' Training Corps compulsory again.
It also claimed another two years will be added to the education system for mandatory service to the Armed Force of the Philippines.
But all of these pronouncements are fake, according to the camp of Duterte.
"Vice President-elect Sara Duterte has never released any statements to this effect. The quote card is fake," said Duterte spokesperson Mayor Christina Frasco.
According to Frasco, their camp is expecting further attempts to "discredit, attack, and attribute lies and conjectures" against Duterte as she assumes the vice presidency, so they calling for further vigilance from the public.
"The public is enjoined to be circumspect against persons and groups who will no doubt continue to proliferate disinformation against Vice President-elect Sara Duterte in the coming months and years due to their own vested interests," said Frasco.
Duterte, who has been proclaimed as the newest vice president of the Philippines, has been named by president-elect Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. to be the next secretary of the Department of Education.
