Davao City mayor and vice-presidential aspirant Sara Duterte has accepted the offer of chairmanship for Lakas-CMD, her camp confirmed.
"I am honored to accept the Chairmanship of Lakas-CMD," said Duterte through her spokesperson Christina Frasco.
"Together with the party, I look forward to waging a successful campaign for Uniteam BBM-Sara, with the invaluable support of our fellow Filipinos," added the vice presidential hopeful.
Former Lakas-CMD chairman and Senator Bong Revilla, Jr. offered on Wednesday his post to Duterte.
"I have full trust and confidence in Mayor Sara Duterte's leadership, I believe that she will steer the Party towards victory in 2022," said Revilla in a statement.
"In full support of Mayor Sara Duterte's candidacy for Vice President, I am offering her my post as Chairman of Lakas-CMD," he added.
Duterte's acceptance of the role came nearly a week after she joined Lakas-CMD, following her resignation from the regional party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP).
She recently joined the vice presidential race and is the official running mate Ferdinand Marcos, Jr, who is from the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.
Lakas-CMD is headed by its National President Martin Romualdez, while its President Emeritus is former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
