Ilocos 1st district Rep. Sandro Marcos gave an 8.5 out of 10 rating for the first 100 days of President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.
In an exclusive interview with radio broadcaster Anthony Taberna released on Youtube on Sunday, Oct. 9, Sandro said he gave the rating score as a legislator and not as the President’s son.
Sandro touted the billion pledge of investments that Marcos Jr. brought home from his state visits that he said would be creating 134,246 jobs for Filipinos.
He also praised the President's cabinet member appointees.
“I think nakita naman namin na ang kabinete na binuo niya ay best and brightest talaga lalo na ang kanyang economic team. So, I think that is a big plus. You are only as good as the people you hire ‘diba? Marami sa kabinete, if not all, are capable in doing their job,“ Sandro shared.
When asked about the recent resignations of former press secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles and former executive secretary Victor Rodriguez, Sandro said problems are inevitable when a chief executive is forming a government.
Cruz-Angeles tendered her resignation on Oct. 4 due to health reasons while Rodriguez stepped down from post on Sept. 17 due to family matters.
“Ang importante, I think what indicator of good leadership is as ‘yung mga nakikita mo na hindi gumagana. Sometimes, hindi naman kasalanan ng tao, sometimes it is just a mismatch. Sometimes, mali ‘yung ano.. Ang strong leadership ay may instant action at hindi napapabayaan,“ he explained.
“Pwede mo naman sabihin na week leader siya kung pinabayaan niya ng three or five years, and nagkakamali lagi. There’s no such thing as perfect administration. Walang 100 percent. Lagi namang nagkakaroon ng problema ang administrasyon, what matters is paano ‘yung reaction mo at kung paano ang ginawa mo para ayusin,“ he added.
The Congressman shared that he had seen Marcos Jr. fire people but claimed that it was not his style as a leader.
“Mabait siya, totoo but he is decisive. Hindi siya maingay in the sense that sinisigawan niya. Hindi siya ganun [kapag] nagkamali ka, that’s never been his style,“ he added.
Sandro said the lack of 1.5 in his rating was attributed to the many obligations of Marcos Jr. that have slightly affected his efficiency as a President.
“Ang dami niyang hina-handle ngayon, 'yung gyera sa Russia, West Philippine sea, mga presyo ng bilihin, [at] presyo ng kuryente. So we have to get on top of that. Like with any new administration, may kaunting adjustments, may kaunting growing pains na I guess, domestic and internal issues na kailangan ayusin,“ he explained.
Marcos Jr. marked his 100th day in office on Saturday, Oct. 8.
