Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Alexander 'Sandro' Marcos on Thursday took his oath as one of the newest members of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), the political party of his father, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.
Their oath-taking ceremony was led by the President himself in a ceremony in Malacañang.
"It is my distinct pleasure to announce that I, along with a number of governors, joined Partido Federal ng Pilipinas earlier today. I look forward to working with my new party mates and more importantly, furthering the President’s agenda for nation building. Mabuhay ang PFP!" the Marcos scion said in a Facebook post.
Sandro was previously a member of former senator Manny Villar's Nacionalista Party.
President Marcos, who was PFP's standard-bearer during the 2022 national elections, welcomed the new members of their party.
"We are attempting to transform the government, to transform the bureaucracy, to transform even the thinking of ordinary Filipino citizens and our politicians. Ibahin natin ang pag-iisip para naman ay makaramdam naman ‘yung ating mga kababayan ng pagbabago na talagang ang pamahalaan ay nandiyan para tulungan sila," Marcos said.
Formed in 2018, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas is a national political party in the Philippines chaired by President Marcos. The party is pushing for federalism in the Philippines.
During the run-up to the 2022 national election, the UniTeam Alliance was formed by the PFP, Lakas-CMD, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), and Partido ng Masang Pilipino (PMP), with guest candidates from other parties.
