The Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 5 confirmed that Former Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Board Member and whistleblower Sandra Cam voluntarily surrendered on Monday, June 26.
After being cleared by the trial court last January 2023 due to a lack of evidence, Cam admitted her accountability in the killing of Butuan Vice Mayor Charlie Yuson III in Sampaloc Manila back in 2019.
Police Regional Office-5 spokesperson, Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib said Cam yielded at 6:40 p.m. after Judge Rolando G. Sandigan of the Metropolitan Trial Court in Cities in Masbate City Court issued a warrant of arrest regarding the Obstruction of apprehension and Prosecution of Criminal Offenders (violation of Presidential Decree 1829 in relation to Article 19 of the Revised Penal Code) complain against Cam.
Cam was charged with murder but was acquitted by the court. She is currently under the custody of Masbate City police.
During the 2019 mayoralty race, Yuson’s son, Charmax Jan, won against Cam’s son.
