John Matthew Salilig, the 24-year-old chemical engineering student whose decomposed body was found in a town in Imus, Cavite, died from "severe blunt force trauma to the lower extremities," his autopsy report showed Thursday.
His autopsy report from the Cavite Provincial Crime Laboratory was completed last February 28, the same day Salilig's body was exhumed in a shallow grave in a vacant lot in Malagasang, Imus, Cavite.
The autopsy described the body as bloated and in decomposition stage. It also noted that several hematomas — pool of clotted bloods — were seen in Salilig's body expecially on his chest and thighs.
A witness earlier said that the 24-year-old student was beaten at least 70 times during the initiation rites of Tau Gamma Phi (Triskelion) fraternity in Biñan, Laguna last February 18.
Adamson University earlier said in a statement that Salilig died on February 18.
Remains arrived home in Zamboanga
Meanwhile, Salilig's remains have already arrived in his hometown in Zamboanga City on Thursday.
His remains is set to be buried on Saturday, March 4.
