Albay 2nd District Rep. Joey Salceda said he will be constant in his opinion regarding the Department of Tourism (DOT) ending its contract with DDB Philippines but will be gentler and kinder to Tourism Secretary Cristina Frasco.
“Nangyari na rin yan sa panahon ni Duterte, lagi naman may nagkakamali sa simula,” Salceda said in an interview with DZRH on Monday, July 3.
Salceda suggested that for DOT to be able to restart again, they should end the contract with DDB Philippines, the advertising agency that produced the “Love the Philippines” Audio Visual Presentation (AVP).
“Under pressured lang naman ‘yan gawa ng magso-SONA na si Presidente eh” it said.
Salceda was the one who objected and expressed dismay to DOT for not including the perfect-cone Mayon Volcano of Albay in their visuals.
“When there's smoke, there's fire talaga. Noong nawala si Mayon [sa promo video], sabi ko, ‘may mali rito,”said Salceda.
Meanwhile, Salceda stated that DOT learned from everything and everyone must ‘move forward’.
“Ayoko naman mapasama ang Pilipinas. Hindi ko kasiyahan na mapatunayan na tama ako. Let’s move forward. Let’s work together,” Salceda noted.
“Okay lang naman ang 'love' 'di ba? 'wag lang sa maling tao,” Salceda said as it ended the interview.
DDB released a statement apologizing for using non-original materials.
DOT already terminated its contract with DDB.
