

The Rizal Technological University Supreme Student Council (RTU-SSC) on Tuesday, October 24, expressed their warmest sympathies to the bereaved family of a 7th-grade student who allegedly committed suicide inside its campus.
The incident happened on October 19, when a Grade 7 student allegedly jumped from the 6th floor of one of RTU's buildings.
Reports said one reason for the child's suicide was due to being embarrassed by his teacher for allegedly cheating.
In a statement, the RTU SSC said they are one in seeking justice and truth as the investigation is still ongoing.
"We will make sure that those who are deemed responsible for this incident shall be held accountable for their actions," the SSC said.
"RTU SSC, together with other student councils and organizations, should raise our voices as we demand peace and justice for the lost life of the 7th grade student," it added.
The university's SSC said they are committed to catering to the needs of the students, offering assistance to those who have been affected by the incident.
As they prioritize the welfare of their fellow students, RTU SSC reaffirmed that the RTU Student Government will make sure that justice will be served for the late student and his family.
"We are calling out the whole administration to heed with the demands of the whole RTUista community; we are demanding a student-centered, gender sensitive, and humane academic policies that are conductive for the learning of each RTUistas," they said.
In a separate statement released on October 20, the RTU confirmed the passing of the Grade 7 student, which transpired within its campus.
The school administration expressed its deep sympathy for the individuals who have been affected by the loss.
Other information regarding the incident will be transparent once results come from the authority's investigation, RTU said.
Meanwhile, RTU SSC encouraged students to wear black on Wednesday, October 25, "in the pursuit of peace and justice."
