TV5 and MediaQuest-owned RPTV went on air on CNN Philippines’ frequency on February 1 following the sorrowful announcement of its shutdown and removal of digital platforms.
According to TV5 president and CEO Guido Zaballero, RPTV is starting to align its commitment to boosting the standards of the Philippines’ broadcasting, particularly in entertainment, sports, and public service.
Moreover, the free-to-air channel will contain sports, news, and entertainment for the Filipino family to enjoy watching together.
Programs that are included in the free-to-air channel are the noontime show “Eat Bulaga,” “Gud Morning Kapatid,” “Wanted Sa Radyo,” Ted Failon and DJ Chacha," the Philippine Basketball Association's (PBA) live telecast, the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), and the Gilas Pilipinas Games.
On Wednesday, January 31, CNN Philippines officially went off the air after losing more than P5 billion, which made the local franchise holder decide to shut down the news outlet from the airwaves.
Meanwhile, approximately 300 employees lost their jobs, and the news outlet’s website and social media accounts on the internet were also removed.
