The Rotary Club (RC) of Malate Prime in partnership with DZRH bestowed pangkabuhayan showcase to five individuals on Monday, July 10.
The turn over of the pangkabuhayan showcase was led by RC Malate Prime President Daisy Valdez, RC Malate Prime Transformational President Jimmie Ocampo, and former RC Malate Prime President Don Abbravante in the Manila Broadcasting Company (MBC) in Pasay City as part of the celebration of DZRH’s 84th anniversary.
The beneficiaries were Jerry Calupin from Dasmarinas, Cavite; Glaiza Andaya from Caloocan City; Evelyn Banawa from Ermita, Manila; Mary Jane Ramos from Navotas City; and Marites Viledo from Malabon City.
The pangkabuhayan showcase contains a basket of grocery items and a sack of rice.
In an interview during DZRH’s Public Service Hour, Maria Medina, one of the former beneficiaries of the pangkabuhayan showcase last year, recounted how this initiative had transformed her life.
"Okay na po ako. Noong dati po, wala po akong tulong galing sa inyo, sa gilid lang po ako ng kalye natutulog. Sapin-sapin, katron. Nung dumating sa akin ang tulong ninyo, iningatan ko po iyon," she shared.
Medina said she used the pangkabuhayan showcase to build a sari-sari store, and after four months, she was able to rent a small bedroom for her family.
"Hindi na po kami natutulog sa kalye... Okay naman, nakakakain kami ng maayos at nakakaupa kami ng bahay," the 60-year-old beneficiary said.
In her parting message, Medina advised this year's beneficiaries to take a good care of the pangkabuhayan showcase they will receive.
"Ingatan lang po, tapos ipon-ipon lang ng isang daan, isang daan sa isang araw. Makakaraos din, makakaupa rin kayo ng maliit na kuwarto at makakain ng maayos," she remarked.
