

President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has approved the inclusion of Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF) and 10 other bills as part of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) priority measures, House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez said on Sunday.
With the 11 additional bills, the Marcos administration now has 42 LEDAC priority bills this 2023 from the 31 bills originally listed by the President during his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) in July last year.
According to the House Speaker, the following are the bills added to the LEDAC:
1. Amending the AFP Fixed Term Bill
2. Ease of Paying Taxes
3. Maharlika Investment Fund
4. Local Government Unit Income Classification
5. Amendment to Universal Health Care Act
6. Bureau of Immigration Modernization
7. Infrastructure Development Plan/Build Build Build Program
8. Philippine Salt Industry Development Act
9. Philippine Ecosystem and Natural Capital Accounting System (PENCAS)
10. National Employment Action Plan
11. Amendment to the Anti-Agricultural Smuggling Act
Romualdez said before the Congress will close its session on June 2, they aim to pass eight of the first 31 priority bills namely, the bill establishing regional specialty hospitals, enabling law for the natural gas industry, National Land Use Act, Department of Water Resources and Services and creation of Water Regulatory Commission, Budget Modernization Act, National Defense Act, amendments to the Electric Power Industry Reform Act, and the bill on a unified system of separation, retirement, and pension for uniformed personnel.
"If we could do that, we would have approved all the urgent measures identified by President Marcos in less than a year," he noted.
The Congress has officially opened it session today, May 8.
