House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez on Friday called upon the recently announced 2022 Bar passers to not only become successful lawyers but also to become a catalyst in society.
Out of 9,183 bar examinees, 3,992 successfully passed the exams, resulting in a passing rate of 43.47 percent.
In his statement, Romualdez emphasized that new lawyers must uphold the highest standards of public service excellence and utilize their profession to promote positive change in the world.
"Be a catalyst for change and uphold the standards of public service excellence in the practice of our noble profession," he said.
As Romualdez explained, to become a "good lawyer," one must serve not only the wealthy and privileged, but also those who are poor and underprivileged. This will ensure that justice is served without any fear or favoritism.
“You should be good lawyers by serving the poor and the underprivileged. Ensure that justice is served without fear or favor,” the House Speaker added.
Furthermore, he believes that it is the responsibility of these new lawyers to contribute towards the improvement of the judicial system.
"They should contribute to the delivery of fair, impartial, and speedy justice," Romualdez said.
