House Speaker Martin Romualdez has urged the Philippines, the United States, and India to collaborate on digital public infrastructure.
Romualdez had the idea after attending a Digital Public Infrastructure presentation at the International Monetary Fund headquarters in Washington, D.C. on Saturday (PH time).
He also had a brief conversation with Nandan Nilekani, co-founder of the Indian multinational information technology firm Infosys.
Romualdez believes that it is crucial for the Philippines, India, and the United States to take the lead in this digital public infrastructure initiative because nations stand to benefit greatly.
He stated that the primary reason the House of Representatives enacted House Bill 7327, also known as the E-Governance/E-Government Bill, on March 6 was to construct public digital infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the proposal aims to move the entire bureaucracy to the digital arena for faster and more transparent service delivery and improved engagement with the public.
