House Speaker Martin Romualdez on Tuesday, January 30, asked his cousin Senator Imee Marcos to avoid uttering disrespectful statements publicly, saying that this is not a good example to the youth.
"Ang pakiusap ko lang kay Senator Imee, hindi po kailangan ng bastusan. Pinakikinggan tayo ng mga kabataan at hindi magandang ehemplo ang ganito," he said in a statement.

Romualdez issued this hour after Marcos's tirade that "there is no cure for your shamelessness" during the Senate Committee on Electoral Reforms and People's Participation probe into the People's Initiative to amend the Philippine 1987 Constitution.
The Senator's anger was spawned by reports that the House Speaker was allegedly involved in the controversial paid Charter-change signature drive.
Romualdez said he is open to "meaningful discussion" with Marcos to address any concerns.
"It is through open communication and collaboration that we can best serve the interests of our people. Our nation faces many challenges, and it is more crucial than ever that we, as leaders, set an example of respect, understanding, and cooperation," he said, adding that he remains professional with his colleagues in the government, including his cousin.
The House Speaker further asked Marcos to end any dispute and to just work for fellow Filipinos' welfare.
