Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday announced the launching of the Angat Buhay non-governmental organization (NGO) – the country's largest volunteers network – on July 1, a day after her term ends on June 30.
Robredo made the announcement during her thanksgiving event at the Ateneo de Manila University in Quezon City on Friday, May 13.
The Angat Buhay NGO was named after Robredo's brainchild during her stint as VP for the past six years, "Angat Buhay."
The program has highlighted the presidential candidate's commitment to public service and pandemic response, which also became the highlight of her campaign rally.
"Sa unang araw ng Hulyo, ilulunsad natin ang Angat Buhay NGO. Meron na tayong template nito. Bubuuin natin ang pinaka-malaking volunteer network sa buong bansa," the Vice President said.
[On the first day of July, we will launch Angat Buhay NGO. We already have a template for this. We will create the largest volunteer network in the country.]
"Pero hindi tayo mamimili ng tutulungan. Wala tayong tatalikuran. Ipapakita natin ang buong pwersa ng radikal na pagmamahal," she continued.
[But we will not choose who we will help. We will not turn our backs on anyone. We will show the full force of radical love.]
Robredo urged her supporters, companies, and private partners to join her in this new endeavor of public service.
"Iniimbita ko kayong lahat, ang mga nagpagod, ang mga kumpanya at private partners, itutuloy natin ang ating pagsasama-sama," Robredo said.
She also bared her plans to tap the Robredo People's Councils in different provinces to help organize the hundreds of volunteers who might want to join the program.
Based on the partial and unofficial results released by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. got 31.09 million votes while Robredo garnered 14.81 million votes.
