Vice President Leni Robredo went live on Tuesday morning to address supporters following the results of the partial and unofficial tally for the presidential elections.
Robredo was fell significantly behind election frontrunner Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.,
The vice president told her supporters that they did not fail.
"Sinasabi ko sa inyo ngayon: Walang nasayang; hindi tayo nabigo. Pinakamahalaga: Hindi pa tayo tapos. Nagsisimula pa lang tayo," she said.
(I am telling you now, nothing was wasted, we did not fail. Most importantly: We are not yet done. We are just starting.)
"May landas na nagbukas, at hindi ito sasara kasabay ng mga presinto; may kilusang isinilang, at hindi ito papanaw sa pagtatapos ng bilangan. Ang namulat, di na muling mapipikit. Hindi natin kailanman hahayaang makatulog muli ang pag-asang nagising," she added, referring to her People's Movement led by mostly volunteers to help her campaign for presidency.
(There is a new path that opened, and this will not close along with the polling precincts. A movement is born, and it will not wane after the counting of votes. Eyes oopened ill no longer remain shut. We will never allow the hope that awakened to fall asleep again.)
According to Robredo, she has no plans on leaving her advocacies in helping marginalized people, and urged her supporters to join her.
"Wala akong planong abandonahin ang mga bagay na habambuhay ko nang ipinaglalaban. Tuloy ang trabaho ko para iangat ang buhay ng mga nasa laylayan," she said.
(I don’t have plans to abandon the things that I fought for my whole life. The task of lifting the lives of the marginalized continues.)
"Tinatawag ko kayong samahan ako dito, at sa iba pang mga laban."
(I encourage you to join me in this and in other battles.)
She stressed that the country needs her supporters' continuous participation beyond the elections, to upholding justice as well as the rights and dignity of Filipinos.
"Kaya huwag kayong bibitaw. Panatilihing aktibo ang mga komunidad. Patuloy na tumindig. Igiit ang katotohanan," she said.
(So do not give up. Remain active in the community. Continue to remain steadfast. Fight for the truth.)
"Lalong palawakin ang pusong nabuksan na; damhin ang dinadaanan ng kapwa natin, makipasan ng mga dalahin nila, ituloy ang laban para iangat ang buhay ng lahat."
(Further broaden the heart that has been opened, go down the same path as our countrymen, help in carying their burdens, continue in the fight to uplift everyone’s lives.)
"Patuloy tayo magmahal. Maaaring hindi ngayon, maaaring hindi bukas o sa makalawa o sa susunod na taon, pero may liwanag pa ring nag-aabang basta't handa tayong magsikap na abutin ito."
(Let us continue to love. Maybe not now, maybe not tomorrow, the day after or the year after, but there is a light awaiting those who persevere in reaching it.)
