Former vice president Leni Robredo on Friday lead Angat Buhay, a non-government organization, and its partners in a groundbreaking ceremony for its dormitory building project for Tulay na Lupa National High School in Labo, Camarines Norte.
"We are building a dorm inside the Tulay na Lupa National High School, where some students have to walk or travel for hours every day just to get to class. Sinimulan namin ang pagtatayo ng in-campus dorms nu’ng panahon ko bilang Vice President, para tugunan ang mataas na rates ng pag-absent at pag-dropout ng mga high school students na ganito ang araw-araw na pinagdaraanan. At ang dorm natin sa Tulay na Lupa NHS ang ikalawang itatayo ng Angat Buhay bilang isang NGO," said Atty. Robredo, who also sits as the Angat Buhay chairperson.
"We are grateful for the generosity of our partner, LBC Hari ng Padala Foundation, which has made this endeavor possible. We also thank the local government of Labo, led by Mayor Jojo Francisco; Sibol at Liwanag ng Buhay, Inc.; JCI Labo Camarines Norte; and DepEd Camarines Norte, led by Schools Division Superintendent Nympha Guemo for their support," she added.
This is the organization's second dormitory; the first being the one situated in Infanta, Quezon under the Southern Luzon State University.
Also present during the ceremony and signing of the memorandum of agreement for the dormitory, which can house 40 students, were Angat Buhay Executive Director Raffy Magno, Labo Mayor Jojo Francisco, Department of Education Schools Division Superintendent Nympha Guemos, TNLNHS Principal Eleonor Eco, and their partners, Christine Wutrich (Executive Director of LBC Foundation), Kian Mago (President of JCI Labo Camarines Norte), and Randy Peregrino (President of Sibol at Liwanag ng Buhay, Inc.).
Also in attendance were the students, faculty, and members of the different partner organizations.
