Former Vice President Leni Robredo officially launched on Friday her brainchild program Angat Buhay as a non-governmental organization.

This marks her first engagement as a private citizen following the end of her team yesterday.

During the launching ceremony, Robredo announced that she will be the chairman of the NGO, whose corporate name would be Angat Pinas Incorporation since the Angat Buhay was already taken.

"Bad news dahil noong nireregister natin ang ‘Angat Buhay’ hindi ito na-approve dahil may naka-register ng ganitong pangalan mula noong 2003. Ang incorporation name natin ay Angat Pinas, Inc. but the program will still be Angat Buhay," she said.

[We have bad news because when we registered the 'Angat Buhay' it was not approved since there is already an Angat Buhay [entity] registered back in 2003. Our incorporation name would be Angat Pinas, Inc., but the program will still be Angat Buhay.]

The Angat Buhay program, according to Robredo, would focus on three main areas such as health, education, and disaster response which are among the urgent problems in the country nowadays.

The launching kicked off with a street and art festival in her volunteer center in Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City.

Robredo said the proceeds from the sale of over 900 artworks given to her by her supporters during the 2022 presidential campaign will fund the Angat Buhay programs

Supporters can also donate via the Angat Buhay app wherein donors can contribute from PHP 1,000 to PHP 20,000.

The movement is a follow-through of the “pink revolution” inspired by her failed 2022 presidential bid.

"The challenge is, how do we encourage the groups to be involved in programs that will help the community? Hindi iyon nakasalalay sa amin. Nakasalalay iyon sa ating lahat na ipakitang hindi tayo failure. Naging matagumpay tayo kasi we sparked the spirit of volunteerism," Robredo said.
