Actor and senatorial frontrunner Robin Padilla on Friday announced that former presidential legal counsel Salvador Panelo will be his legal adviser and mentor in the Senate.
In a Facebook post, Padilla said he will need Panelo's expertise in his push for federalism and charter change.
"Kailangan ko ng pambato sa usapin ng batas pagdating sa senado. Ang pagpapalit ng saligang batas ay hindi magiging madali sapagkat ang babanggain nito ay ang kasalukuyang naghaharing mga oligarko nakakubli sa 1987 constitution," he wrote.
Padilla has been ranked 1st in the senatorial line-up with over 26.4 million votes, based on the partial and unofficial tally result by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
The actor gained over three million votes in Central Luzon, two million from Central Visayas, and over one million votes each from Ilocos Region, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
Panelo, who also gunned for a senatorial seat, was out of the winning circle.
