A robbery suspect was shot dead by a security guard during an attempted holdup at a fruit store in Barangay San Isidro, Makati City early Wednesday, August 14.
The suspect, identified as 27-year-old Jeric Brondial, was reportedly a notorious criminal involved in several convenience store robberies in Makati.
According to a report by RH Noche Cacas, Brondial was among a group of four suspects who attempted to rob the Fresh King Fruit Store along Osmeña Highway.
The cashier stated that the suspects entered the store and immediately declared a holdup, forcing the security officer to the ground and taking several cellphones. However, as the suspects were attempting to flee, the security guard managed to draw his firearm and shot Brondial, resulting in his death.
Authorities have arrested one of the four suspects and are currently pursuing the remaining three.
At the crime scene, police recovered a 9mm caliber handgun, ammunition, and two motorcycles—a Yamaha and a Suzuki—both without license plates.
Further investigation revealed that Brondial was the leader of the Brondial Criminal Group and had multiple arrest warrants in Makati City.
