

Veteran actor and director Ricky Davao died at the age of 63 on Thursday, May 1, after battling cancer.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Ricky Davao. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children and loved ones, after bravely facing complications related to cancer,” his daughter Ara Davao wrote in a Facebook post.
During his career, which spanned four decades, the “actor’s actor” showcased superb versatility, effortlessly moving from entertainment, hard-hitting drama, and comedy, and even action roles.
He was the recipient of numerous accolades such as three FAMAS awards for Best Supporting Actor in 1990, 2017, and 2020 for his work on “Abot Hanggang Sukdulan,” “Deliver Us,” and “Fuccbois” respectively, a FAP Best Actor award for “Minsan May Isang Puso,” as well as a Gawad Urian Best Actor award for “The Kite.”
Born Frederick Charles Davao, he began his career in show business as a dancer for the Vicor Crowd.
He was previously married to actress Jackie Lou Blanco, with whom he fathered three children: Ara, Rikki, and Kenneth.
