Joshua de Sequera stood up for his father, actor Richard Cepeda after being allegedly wrongly accused.
On Sunday, Cepeda was reportedly arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) due to his alleged syndicated estafa case and is now under the authority's custody.
In a Facebook post, Sequera said Cepeda was simply a "product endorser" of the company that is allegedly offering investment scheme that pays people a big percentage profit monthly.
"He was simply the product endorser of a sales company. They used the title BRAND AMBASSADOR (which many companies also use). The company offered an investment scheme (which he had no knowledge nor participation of) which paid people a big % profit monthly. Guaranteed with advanced payouts in monthly postdated checks," he said.
The actor's son said when checks started bouncing, the investors were prompted to file Estafa cases against everyone who has been a part of the company, including his father who was just a celebrity model.
De Sequera reiterated his father's innocence.
"His lawyer can easily prove his innocence by presenting a copy of DTI showing the company is a sole proprietorship and his name is not there," he stressed.
"Also his name appears nowhere on any of the said investment moas and post dated checks. Request for bail and if ever court date is his biggest hassle because it means he's stuck in detainment even though he's innocent," actor's son added.
Meanwhile, De Sequera called out the people who are making hateful comments regarding the issue.
He ended his post by saying, "IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT REALLY HAPPENED KEEP YOUR COMMENTS TO YOURSELF."
Apart from the actor, authorities are now searching other individuals who were allegedly complicit in the crime.
