Kapamilya Actress Ria Atayde is being recommended to be the spokesperson of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
In an interview with the media on Friday, MMDA acting chairperson Don Artes said he personally endorsed Atayde to be the MMDA spox to the Malacañang.
“As far as qualification naman is concerned, she’s a communications graduate sa La Salle. I think ‘yung work experience niya naman ay suited para sa pagiging spokesperson and ang pagiging celebrity niya ay beneficial sa agency as far as information and dissemination is concern,” he said.

Artes mentioned that the 31-year-old actress can respond to criticisms well, particularly when she received a bashing after being the cover girl of the whisky brand White Castle.
“Alam naman natin kasama sa trabaho ng spokesperson ang saluhin lahat ng batikos dito sa agency whether or not totoo,” the MMDA acting chairperson said.
He said that Atayde is an “empowered woman”, and that the agency needs someone like her.
“I personally believe she will be an asset dito sa MMDA, that is why ako mismo ang nag-ask sa kaniya kung pwede siya maging spokesperson,” Artes added.
Atayde is the daughter of renowned veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez and businessman Art Atayde. She is the sibling of actor and Quezon City's 1st district Rep. Arjo Atayde.
For the record, this is not the first time that a media personality was recommended to be the agency’s spokesperson.
In 2020, former Miss Philippines competitor Celine Pialago was tapped as the MMDA spox.
