Senator Ramon 'Bong' Revilla Jr. has filed a resolution seeking an inquiry on the alleged involvement of high-ranking officials and officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the ₱6.7 billion drug bust in Manila late last year.

Under Senate Resolution No. 564 filed on Tuesday, Revilla cited the "massive attempt" of Police Lt. Gen. Benjamin Santos Jr. and others to cover up the 990 kilograms seized shabu which caused the arrest of fellow police officer Master Sgt. Rodolfo Mayo Jr. and nine others.

"To make certain accountability and to provide a third person account on the matter, an investigation by the appropriate Senate Committee is imperative. This will further ensure that those who are responsible for this heinous act will be dealt with to the full extent of the law," he said.

According to the Senator, there is a need to probe the case since this involves government personnel who committed "detestable acts that serve to taint the integrity of the agency they serve."

"The Senate must therefore step in and ensure that the trust and confidence reposed unto them are not abused," Revilla added.

In a press briefing on Monday, Interior Secretary Benajmin 'Benhur' Abalos' revealed that a closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured Santos and 10 others taking 42 kilos of shabu during a drug bust on Oct. 8, 2022.

On Tuesday, Domingo said he will file a leave of absence amid a pending investigation but denied his involvement in the drug case.
