Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Monday vowed to track down and hold accountable all individuals accused in the controversial flood control projects scandal.

“No matter where you are in the world, we will find you. If you are at large, we will find you,” Remulla said during a press conference in Camp Crame where he presented the list of personalities linked to the flood control mess.

“If you are hiding in the Philippines, we will find you,” he added.

As of now, eight of the 16 individuals implicated in the flood control scandal have been taken into government custody. Seven suspects are currently under the custody of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), while one has been apprehended by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Three accused individuals currently believed to be overseas have reportedly surrendered after authorities were informed of their whereabouts.

The accused individuals believed to be abroad are as follows:

  • Aderma Angeli D. Alcazar – believed to be in New Zealand
  • Cesar E. Buenaventura – believed to be in New York, USA
  • Montrexis T. Tamayo – believed to be in Jordan

Meanwhile, former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co remains at large as authorities continue to determine his location.

Remulla have warned that anyone helping the accused individuals could face consequences under the law.

The SILG also urged the accused who are being hunted to turn themselves in.

"Our best advice to all who have outstanding warrants of arrest against them, surrender as soon as possible. Surrender to the nearest authorities. Surrender to the nearest police station. If we go on a manhunt after you, we cannot guarantee the results. For the sake of your families, for the sake of the country, surrender immediately," he said.

Remulla emphasized the government’s commitment to pursuing justice, assuring that no one involved in the flood control anomalies would evade accountability.
