The Las Piñas Regional Trial Court Branch 197 on Friday acquitted Juanito Jose Remulla III, son of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin 'Boying' Remulla, of illegal drug possession charges amounting to PHP 1.3 million.
In a report from RH Christian Maño, Remulla's eldest son was acquitted due to issues on the chain of custody.
Juanito, 38, was nabbed in his home in Las Pinas City last October 2022 while receiving a parcel containing kush or high-grade marijuana valued at PHP 1.25 million.
A copy of the court's decision was shared with the media.

Juanito is still facing a separate complaint for drug importation and violation of customs law at the Pasay Prosecutor’s Office. He earlier pleaded not guilty to the illegal possession charge.
This incident mounted calls for the Justice Secretary to step down from his post out of delicadeza, but Remulla maintained that resignation "never" entered his mind because he has a "clear conscience."
