Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin "Boying" Remulla has directed a comprehensive investigation into the illegal departure of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo. He assured that individuals who supported or participated in the act would be held responsible and face stringent legal consequences.

Remulla urged the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco to explain and come up with a report regarding the matter.

"I am issuing this final warning against erring BI personnel who may have had a participation in the escape of Guo despite strict restrictions imposed by our government, it’s either you come out and unveil the truth or wait until I personally get to the bottom of this where heads will roll and all hell will break loose,” Remulla said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Justice Secretary reiterated the oath of civil servants to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability in all their actions and decisions.

Additionally, the investigation will further examine the possibility that the camp or legal counsel of the embattled ex-mayor may have played a role in her evasive exit from the Philippines.

"As much as lawyers have an obligation to protect the interests of their clients, they also have a broader responsibility to uphold the Rule of Law and safeguard public interest,” said Remulla.

Last month, the BI assured the public that both names "Alice Guo" and "Guo Hua Ping" were listed in the Immigration Lookout Bulletin (ILBO) to closely monitor her movements and prevent an unauthorized departure from the country.

However, despite being listed in the ILBO, the BI confirmed that Guo successfully departed the country, traveling to Malaysia in July before allegedly proceeding to Singapore with her siblings.

On August 19, Senator Risa Hontiveros revealed during a Senate session that Guo had already fled the country and traveled to Malaysia.

Furthermore, Malacañang on Tuesday directed the relevant agencies to cancel the Philippine passport of Guo, her siblings, and Cassandra Ong.
