The Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Boying Remulla has offered P5 million for those who will provide information about the suspects behind the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
"Secretary Remulla has put up a reward of FIVE MILLION PESOS to anyone who can give vital information or evidence to charge and prosecute the perpetrators and mastermind/s behind the murder-assassination of Governor Degamo and the five (5) civilians," the DOJ said in a press statement on Saturday, March 4.
Degamo was shot inside his residential compound in Barangay San Isidro, Pamplona, Negros Oriental, at around 9:30 AM on Saturday, March 4.
The 56-year-old governor passed away at 11:41 AM, as confirmed by his family.
The assailants arrived wearing pixelated police uniforms, bulletproof vests, and carrying long firearms and fled to the mountainous area of Barangay Cansumalig, Bayawan, Negros Oriental.
Remulla has already instructed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to investigate the incident.
"The Department, together with all the other law enforcement agencies, will not rest until Justice is met. The killers as well as the mastermind/s will be uncovered and will be held accountable for the incident," the DOJ added.
