The remains of Jullebee Ranara, the overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who was murdered in Kuwait, arrived in the country on Friday night.
The husband, children, and relatives of Ranara received her remains at the cargo warehouse of the Ninoy Aquino International Aiport (NAIA) Terminal 3 at about 10 pm.
Senator Raffy Tulfo and the officials of the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) were also present during the arrival of Ranara's corpse.
In an interview with the media, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Administrator Arnel Ignacio said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) would conduct an autopsy of the remains of Ranara once they arrived at the funeral parlor.
"Medyo mahabang proseso iyan kasi frozen 'yung katawan. It would take quite a number of hours," he said.
The wake of Ranara is possibly set on Sunday, January 29, Ignacio added.
The family of Ranara refused to give statements to the media and asked for privacy.
Meanwhile, Tulfo, who chairs the Senate Committee on Migrant workers, suggested a total deployment ban in Kuwait.
"After the total deployment ban, that's the only time we can sit down with them in bilateral talks pero in our terms. Meron tayong mga kondisiyones na ibibigay natin sa kanila. Kung gusto nila ng OFWs, sumunod sila sa mga kondisyones natin," he told the reporters in an interview.
Tulfo said the conditions should include a mandatory screening for all employers to prove they have a clean background.
"Ito pa, gusto ko i-suggest, lahat ng employers sa ibang high-risk countries, they have to submit a document na pumasa sila sa neuropsychiatric exams. Not only that, pati din ang member ng kanilang households," he added.
Ranara's burnt corpse was discovered in the middle of the desert in Kuwait on Sunday evening, January 22. Her death was first reported by Kuwait media outlets.
The alleged suspect, identified as the 17-year-old son of Ranara's employer, is now in the hands of the Kuwait authorities.
